BOUGHT
& SOLD This is an incredibly ambitious, but altogether
depressing look at big city seediness. A young girl leaves
home, tired of sexual abuse from her father, only to encounter
abuse of another nature from the likes of street people and
the darker side of fate. I liked the biting realism of the
story and the Paul Schrader- like screenplay, but didn't particularly
care for the occasionally over-long sequences. All in all,
it's a pretty solid drama and a notable attempt at creating
a story that works on video. FTVG © 1993 Film Threat
